Memberships run from May 1st to April 30th, in line with our fiscal year.  We are unable to run memberships from the date of registration; however, all memberships purchased from January 1st are counted as part of the next fiscal year.

The DSA is proud to offer FREE membership to applicants who have faced barriers in their lives. We encourage waived-fee applications from those who have been marginalized on any grounds enumerated under the BC Human Rights Code, including sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, race, disability, and/or status as a First Nation, Metis, Inuit, or Indigenous person. If you face other challenges that limit your ability to pay a membership fee, please feel free to apply.

Membership Requirements

We require that our members have attended a doula training of their choice; certification is not required. (If you are choosing to certify, you may be required to attend one or more births; the DSA can help you get that initial experience with our volunteer program.) All members must also agree to our Code of Ethics, and Standards of Practice.

To apply as a new member all you will need is proof of attendance at a doula training. For traditionally trained doulas, please provide a letter of reference.
